Sleeping space for six

I slept in the building with ample space for six people. The rooms held all the minimum necessities for my stay, and I walked to public parking five minutes away for ten dollars a day.

Keyless entry pad for coming and going

I used the number pad at the front door to come and go without keys. When I had to wait for my flight during a snow storm, I left my luggage in a safe space until the end of the day.

Heated bathroom floors for cold mornings

I walked across the heated bathroom floors in my room after waking up early. My shuttle driver dropped me off at the nearby metro rail, while I used the gym clothing I borrowed from the front desk for my workout. I finished my evening with a meal at Trademark, which sits off the lobby.

Live piano music at the bar

I heard a pianist play holiday music while I drank craft cocktails at The Study on my final evening. The bartender Manny mixed my drinks after I finished a dinner with masa bread and halibut. I stayed in a room with an electric kettle for my tea. This boutique building felt much more personal than the conventional hotels where I usually conduct my business travel.

Secure garage for four nights

I parked my car in the secure garage, which I accessed using my room key after checking in at the reception desk. My suite included a full kitchen with a large refrigerator and dishwasher, so I saved my leftovers from nearby restaurants. The breakfast buffet downstairs served scrambled eggs, waffles, and salsa every morning, which kept me fueled before walking to the metro station just blocks away.

Omelets made to order at breakfast

I watched the cooks prepare made-to-order omelets every morning in the atrium dining area. When I returned in the evening, I joined the happy hour for complimentary drinks while sitting in the open lobby. My spacious suite overlooked the metro station across the street, which allowed me to board the train to Washington instantly after I finished my coffee.

Waterfront views on the Potomac River

I woke up each morning in my room to a direct view of the Potomac River. I walked along the riverfront path located right outside the building entrance. During my stay, I used the filtered water and ice machine installed on my floor. I also ate breakfast at Hummingbird, the restaurant on the ground floor.

A pool table in the lobby

I played at the pool table in the lobby while I ate snacks during the social time. I also used the kitchenette to heat meals in my apartment style suite after sitting by the fire pit in the evening. I enjoyed the real rolled oats served at breakfast each morning.

Warm cookies at the front desk

I ate fresh baked cookies at the front desk after I grabbed a hot drink from the 24/7 tea and coffee station in the lobby. My room stayed quiet while I used the microwave and fridge to store leftovers from a nearby diner. I drove my car into DC each morning, appreciating the spacious parking that remained free throughout my stay.

Dining at the ground floor IHOP

I ate breakfast at the IHOP located on the ground floor each morning using the voucher provided at check-in. I used the free self-service laundry machines on the first floor after a long day of travel, while the front desk staff helped me with the new controls. I kept my drinks cold in the larger than average refrigerator provided in my room.

Dining at the chef's counter

I sampled the five-course tasting menu at the chef's counter inside Kiln, where Mike kept our water glasses filled. The room terrace provided significant space during my three nights in Alexandria. I enjoyed the rooftop views each evening while listening to the atmospheric DJ events.
